BC's Best Sedan: Toyota Camry vs. Honda Accord

When it comes to choosing the sedan that’s right for your family, it can be a little bit overwhelming. There are so many competing models out there that checking out all the nooks and crannies, features and technology, there’s a lot of comparing to do. One of the most common competing test drives that we see is the Honda Accord to our Toyota Camry.

Safety Technology for Sedans

Between the Camry and the Accord, there are many reasons to choose the Camry. Beyond being completely redesigned for 2018 with a bold new body, safety, and tons of tech. The 2019s are already arriving on our lot, and they’re looking great. Here’s what you need to know for tech onboard these two sedans:

The Camry is home to Toyota’s exclusive Safety Sense P technology. This means that you’ll be treated to:

• Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection

• Dynamic Radar-based cruise control

• Automatic high beams

• STAR Safety System

• Lane Departure Alert

• Steering Assist​

These features are standard on all Camry models. Unlike Toyota, the Honda offers pedestrian features that include an energy-absorbing hood and front fenders, as well as wiper pivots—no pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, but reactive measures in case you collide with one. That seems backwards to us. The other Toyota features listed above aren’t standard or available at all. Similar to STAR, you will find ABS (automatic braking system) and traction control. When it comes to your safety, don’t cut any corners.

In terms of entertainment, Toyota is home to the exclusive EnTune infotainment system. Both vehicles are home to Apple Auto, Bluetooth, and media support. You’ll be riding in style with your tunes pumping.
